Raised in France, Francois was drawn to the art of drapery and window treatments at an early age. After school, he apprenticed himself to a top Parisian designer, who taught Francois every phase of designing and creating top-quality, beautiful window treatments. Francois especially excelled in finding the perfect window treatment for each room, as well as executing the pieces with a eye for detail. Francois's talent quickly moved him up from installer to apprentice to designer, and he served as a consultant all over Europe, particularly in the upscale areas of London. During a visit to Los Angeles, Francois appreciated the sun and sunlight (as opposed to the occasional gloom of Europe), and
he knew that L.A. was to be his home. He moved to Los Angeles and opened Interieur Motives in 1991, moving to the current Santa Monica location in 1994.
Fifteen years since starting his business, Francois is as passionate as ever about creating beauty in his customers' Los Angeles homes. "We are not finished with a project until the customer is 100% satisfied," says Francois. That's what's great about how we do business. We are not strictly designers, rather decorators. We collaborate with designers as well as work directly with customers to help bring their decorating dreams to life." Francois takes pride in being a top, European designer who is at the same time accessible to his customers. And he is enormously proud of every project and its end result.

Dustin has been with IM for the past two years as our expert in the installation of blinds and shutters. Dustin started in the business early, as a teenager, and has installed hundreds of blinds, shutters, and drapes over the past six years, and has truly become a window treatment expert.
His intimate, working knowledge of the physics and mechanics of window treatments gives Dustin an unerring sense of what will work for any given window--and what won't. He has branched out from only installing blinds and shutters to offering expert consultation on all window treatments. He shares Francois's exacting standards in both installation and aesthetics. Dustin also offers his expert consultation on motorization and automation, and can offer specific recommendations as to how motorization could be employed to improve any window.
And while Dustin certainly excels in the technical aspects of installing blinds, he is an artist in his own right as well: he is an accomplished guitarist and musician.
